The Speaker of the House of Representatives in the United States, Nancy Pelosi and a Congressional delegation has  arrived in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

She touched down together with a congressional delegation at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday, July 28, 2019.

Pelosi was welcomed at the airport by Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, Aaron Mike Oquaye as well as some Members of Parliament.

The US Ambassador to Ghana, Stephanie S. Sullivan was also present to welcome the US Speaker at the airport.

As part of her visit, Nancy Pelosi will hold discussions with Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the coming days. In addition, She is expected  to hold talks with Mike Oquaye and other senior government officials.

In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the first enslaved Africans landing in America, Pelosi’s delegation, during their stay in Ghana,, will also visit the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles and the “Door of No Return to pay their solemn respects.

In addition, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives is scheduled to address Ghana’s Parliament on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a dinner was held in her honour at the Jubilee Lounge of Parliament, Accra, after her arrival.

Nancy Pelosi is the first woman Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
