President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Babagana Kingibe as the new Chief of Staff.

Babagana Kingibe appointed as New Chief of Staff after Abba Kyari's demise

Babagana appointment followed the death of Abba Kyari who died on Friday and was buried in Abuja on Saturday.

Abba Kyari tested positive to coronavirus on his return from Germany and

subsequently died of the infection in Lagos.

His death was annouced in the early hours of today in a statement released to the

public by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity,

Mr Femi Adesina.

The statement reads:

“The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.

“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment.

But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020. “May God accept his soul.

“Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.”

Kingibe has been acting as Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari since Kyari left the Presidency for treatment.
